The city of Atlanta is now home to three state champion basketball teams.

Last month, the Atlanta city council recognized the Mays High School girls team, South Atlanta boys team and districtwide wheelchair basketball teams in separate ceremonies for winning state titles.

The Mays girls won their Class AAAAAA title in a 52-21 win over Cobb County’s Harrison High.

The South Atlanta boys won their Class AA title in a 68-33 win over Emanuel County’s Swainsboro High.

And the Atlanta Wolfpack, the Atlanta Public Schools wheelchair basketball team including players from Carver, Douglass, and South Atlanta high schools, Long Middle School and Perkerson Elementary School, defeated the Houston County Sharks, 40-22, to win the junior varsity wheelchair basketball state championship.
