Elementary schools in Atlanta’s east-side Jackson cluster scheduled two meetings for next week to discuss a proposed change to attendance boundaries for some neighborhoods.

School officials are reviewing a rezoning plan that would move the Summerhill neighborhood from Parkside Elementary School to Barack and Michelle Obama Academy. It also would move the Boulevard Heights and Woodland Hills neighborhoods from Parkside to Benteen Elementary School.

Documents on the Parkside website state that "under-enrollment and overcrowding" are the reasons driving the proposals, which will be presented by school governance teams and principals at two upcoming meetings.

The meetings will take place at 6 p.m. Feb. 6 at Barack and Michelle Obama Academy and at 6 p.m. Feb. 15 at Benteen Elementary School. The schools also posted an online survey, which can be found here, to gather input.
