One driver was killed and another critically injured in a two-vehicle wreck late Wednesday in Fayette County, police said.

Investigators believe Charis Walker, 23, of Tyrone, was crossing Ga. 54 from Cobblestone Boulevard around 11 p.m. when her Toyota Camry was struck in the driver’s side by a Dodge Caliber, according to Lt. Mike Whitlow with Fayetteville police. Walker was killed on impact, Whitlow said.

The driver of the Caliber, Richard Jennings, 46, of Ellenwood, was in critical condition, Whitlow said. Jennings was taken to Atlanta Medical Center.

A 19-year-old in the Camry was in stable condition at Piedmont-Fayette Hospital, according to police. A 14-year-old in the same car was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
