Two people were injured in a wreck that temporarily knocked out power in Virginia-Highland early Saturday.

The wreck happened just before midnight at the intersection of North Highland and St. Charles avenues, according to Sgt. Greg Lyon with Atlanta police. One person was temporarily entrapped in a vehicle, Lyon said.

Two people, whose names were not released, were alert and breathing while being transported to Grady Memorial Hospital.

It was not known early Saturday what caused the wreck, which brought down a power pole at the intersection. Some businesses and homes in the area lost electricity after the crash.
