The Gwinnett County robbery suspect shot and killed Monday night by his victim has been identified.

Gwinnett police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera identified the deceased suspect as 20-year-old Peachtree City resident Pablo A. Bermudez. Bermudez was shot during a home invasion at an apartment complex near Peachtree Corners before dying at North Fulton Medical Center.

The robbery attempt happened just before midnight Monday at the Valencia Apartments on Springs Lane. According to police, the victim retrieved his gun after seeing several men walking across his back patio and, after they tried to force their way through the front door, he opened fire.

The man now identified as Bermudez was shot in the chest, and another suspect, 32-year-old John Michael Bush, was shot in the arm, police said.

John Michael Bush and Saveion Wylie Bush, a relative and fellow suspect, were both arrested after showing up at Gwinnett Medical Center-Duluth, police said.

Both Bushes were charged with home invasion, aggravated assault and felony murder. The latter is based on Bermudez’s death having occurred while all three men were allegedly engaged in the commission of a felony.
