Gwinnett County police have issued an arrest warrant for the driver they believe triggered a deputy-involved shooting earlier this week.

Gwinnett police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera said warrants were issued Tuesday charging 26-year-old Marc Black with aggravated assault upon a peace officer. As of Wednesday afternoon, he had not been detained.

Gwinnett and Walton County deputies were attempting to serve a misdemeanor warrant at a home on Braselton Highway on Monday night when they encountered a car in the driveway. The car — occupied by three people and believed to be driven by Black — circled the house and was approaching authorities in the front yard when one deputy fired a single shot, police said.

The vehicle, which is believed to have been stolen out of Florida, left the scene but was recovered about a mile away. Police do not believe anyone was wounded in the shooting.

Two women in the vehicle during the shooting have been cooperative and will not be charged, Pihera said.

Anyone with information regarding Black’s whereabouts should contact Gwinnett County police at 770-513-5300.
