A Lawrenceville man is being held at the Gwinnett County jail without bond on suspicion of rape, aggravated battery and false imprisonment.

Howard Lee Jr., 32, who recently moved to Georgia from New Jersey, was arrested Saturday in connection with the assault of a 22-year-old Clayton County woman, according to a news release from Lt. Bill Grogan of the Norcross Police Department.

Police say the woman, whose name is being withheld, initially made contact with Lee through his Instagram page where he used the screen name Real_Goldie. On that page there was an advertisement for women who wanted to be photographed for a magazine. The two met at a club in DeKalb County in the pre-dawn hours of Saturday morning. She later followed him, driving her own vehicle, to a hotel in Norcross, according to the news release.

Once in the hotel the woman was assaulted and received multiple facial fractures and other injuries which required extensive surgery, police said.

Norcross police, with help from Georgia Bureau of Investigation analysts, identified Lee as the suspect. He was found hiding inside a closet at his Lawrenceville residence, police said.

Lee is also wanted in New Jersey for violation of probation and in Columbus for simple assault, according to authorities.
