Deputies in South Carolina are trying to figure out who stole dozens of guns during a burglary at a Chesterfield County home.
Authorities said 70 firearms were stolen Thursday from the home, and according to a police report, the weapons are valued at $1 million.
The brick home sits on a hill several miles outside of Pageland, and the area is surrounded by pastures and farmland.
Deputies said the homeowner called them Thursday night, claiming someone had broken into his house and the trailer that sits on the property.
Authorities found a safe in the yard that had been busted open and a pry bar on the ground nearby.
Deputies said 60 guns were kept in the safe and they think about 10 more were stolen from inside the trailer. Some ammunition was missing, too.
Because of how many guns were stolen, deputies are very concerned about where they will end up, which is why the ATF is also involved in the case.
Investigators are still waiting on a list of what was taken, including the model and serial numbers but said most of the guns were rifles.
They said even if a few of them turn up, it could solve the case.
"We track down one or two, it's a lead that could open up to where we could recover the rest of them,” said Chief Deputy Chris Page, with the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Department.
