A Griffin woman has been arrested on involuntary manslaughter charges stemming from a fatal shooting Tuesday, police said.

Renita Maxine Thomas, 25, who was arrested Wednesday, is also charged with aggravated assault and pointing a gun at another after the death of Johnny Whitlock, according to a news release from the Griffin Police Department.

Officers said Whitlock, 40, was shot in the chest about 7 p.m. in the 1200 block of Ellis Road. He was taken to Spalding Wellstar Hospital, where he died from his injuries, according to the release.

Authorities have not said how they linked Thomas to the shooting or if additional arrests are expected in the case.

She was booked into the Spalding County Jail with no bond, according to online jail records.
