New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie ended the three-day government shutdown late Monday, signing a $34.7 billion budget, NJ.com reported.
The three-day shutdown closed government offices, courts, parks and beaches. It also brought Christie unwanted attention and ridicule when he was photographed lounging on the shoreline he had ordered closed.
“Operations will go back to normal on Wednesday morning, with the opening of state business,” Christie said.
Christie blamed state Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto for the stalemate. However, images of Christie sunbathing with his family at Island Beach Park drew national attention, NJ.com reported.
The move will allow beaches and parks to open for the Fourth of July holiday, Christie said.
