A Gainesville woman was arrested on murder charges after a fight at an apartment turned deadly Sunday morning, police said.

Sarah Voss, 34, was taken into custody by Gainesville police and is being held without bond at the Hall County Jail. Voss is facing charges of felony murder and aggravated assault in the shooting of an acquaintance.

“The exceptional teamwork by the members of the police department and our partnering agencies led to swift actions,” Gainesville police Chief Jay Parrish said.

Voss had a fight with the victim, whom she knew, at the Pine Cove Apartments early Sunday morning, Gainesville police said in a news release. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the man with a gunshot wound. He was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, where he was pronounced dead. His name was not released.

The GBI and the Hall County District Attorney’s Office assisted with the investigation.
