Gainesville murder suspect may be in metro Atlanta area

July 7, 2014

Gainesville police are looking for a murder suspect who they believe is likely in the metro Atlanta area.

Rodnie Maurice Stokes, 27, is charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Cedric Huff in a drug-related robbery on West Avenue on June 5, police said.

Huff, 41, was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center and died June 21, the Gainesville Times reported. The alleged shooter, 42-year-old Leshan Tremiele Tanner, already has been arrested and is in the Hall County Jail without bond, the report said.

Stokes, nicknamed “Rebel,” has ties to the Norcross/Gwinnett County area, according to authorities. Police said he is aware that law enforcement authorities are looking for him.

Stokes should be considered armed and dangerous, police said, and they urged people not to attempt to make contact with him.

Anyone with information on Stokes’ location should contact their local authorities.
