The Hall County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 57-year-old man Friday in connection with a child molestation investigation that began last year, officials said.

Steve Cerny of Flowery Branch is accused of sexually abusing a female child at his home Nov. 1, according to sheriff’s office spokesman Officer Derrick Booth. Cerny knew the victim, who lives in a different county, prior to the abuse, Booth said.

Officials began investigating after the victim’s family member alerted them. They said the victim revealed the alleged abuse on the day it occurred.

Cerny has been charged with two counts of sexual battery and one count of child molestation. He was booked into the Hall County Jail and released on a $22,600 bond the next day, according to Booth.

The case is still being investigated.
