A formerly married couple will be released on bail after serving a year of their sentences for manipulating DeKalb County school construction contracts.

Superior Court Judge Gregory Adams on Monday ordered a $75,000 bail for former DeKalb schools Chief Operating Officer Pat Reid and a $50,000 bail for architect Tony Pope.

Reid has been serving a 15-year sentence, and Pope has been serving an eight-year sentence.

The Georgia Court of Appeals had previously ordered that Reid and Pope were entitled to “reasonable bail” while an appeal in their case is pending.

They’ll likely be released later this week, according to their attorneys.

Reid and Pope are seeking new trials. The Georgia Court of Appeals could decide whether to grant their request in the coming months.
