Three people were shot this morning, one of them fatally, when gunfire broke out during a large party at a Marietta apartment complex.

At least 60 people were at the party at the Dwell @ 750 complex on Franklin Road, according to Channel 2 Action News.

“According to witnesses, a group of approximately 4-5 unwanted guests arrived on scene and started an altercation with some of the partygoers,” Marietta police spokesman David Baldwin said in an emailed statement. “One of the unwanted guests pulled out a gun and started shooting into the crowd. Two victims sustained non-life threatening wounds, while the third succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at Kennestone Hospital.”

Baldwin identified the shooting victim as Christopher Wilson, 19, of Marietta. The two victims who sustained non-life threatening wounds were identified as Chauncey Martin, 19, and Malik Phillips, 18.

“The investigation is still active and detectives are currently following up on leads,” Baldwin said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Detective Christopher Lindsey at 770-794-5369 or the Marietta Police Department anonymous tip line at 770-794-6990.
