Police in DeKalb County are asking for the public’s help in solving the homicide of a 13-year-old boy found dead nearly four months ago, one of four unsolved cases from 2022 highlighted by the department over the weekend.

Jamiren Cordell Crosby was found shot to death Sept. 19 in a wooded area behind a row of townhomes in the 1600 block of Parkview Trail in Lithonia, police said. The DeKalb Alternative School student was found about 10 minutes from his home just one day after his mother called police and reported her son as a runaway.

A suspect, who was spotted with Crosby during the teenager’s final moments, is still at large, according to DeKalb police. On Saturday, they requested additional help in finding him. The department released surveillance footage of the man, who they highlighted in a red outline.

The unsolved homicide was one of four listed by the department Saturday.

Police released the surveillance footage of Crosby in late October, which showed him leaving a neighborhood with an unidentified man Sept. 18 at 3:11 a.m., near where the teen was found dead. The man was seen in the video wearing a black hoodie, mask and black pants as he walked with Crosby through a subdivision.

Crosby was last seen wearing black jeans, a black and white hoodie and white shoes. The teen’s mother told officers that he left home around 2 a.m. and could have taken her handgun with him. She believed her son went with a friend to the Arbor Crossing apartment complex, located about a half-mile from their home.

A mysterious phone call to the family suggested Crosby was killed and left somewhere in Lithonia Park, Channel 2 Action News reported. Search parties were sent out through local schools and parks after the shooting, but were unsuccessful, his family said.

Virginia Montgomery told the news station that Crosby was partially covered by a blue tarp and was clutching a branch when she found him.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to contact the DeKalb police Homicide Assault Unit at 770-724-7850.

The department also requested help in finding the person responsible for fatally shooting Colleen Harrington, 39, at a DeKalb intersection May 13.

The mother was walking in the area of Memorial and Mountain drives when she was shot around 6:30 a.m. She died at the scene. Harrington had worked at OK Cafe for several years before suffering a brain injury in a car wreck that left her disabled.

“She was trusting of people before that, but she kind of let her guard down after that,” her mother, Patricia Harrington, said at the time, adding that her daughter struggled with memory sometimes, “but she still was this independent person and wanted to (keep being) independent.”

Police said she was known to frequent the homeless communities in the area where she was shot. Investigators have not publicly identified any suspects.

On Thanksgiving night, Jeremiah Eubanks, 17, was shot by someone in a passing car as he and another man walked along a DeKalb road. Eubanks was found shot at the gas pumps at a Shell gas station in the 300 block of South Stone Mountain Lithonia Road just after 7 p.m., police said. He died at the scene.

The person Eubanks was with, Kelson Cody, was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his foot, authorities said. Witnesses reporting seeing a gray sedan driving away from the shooting, police said, though no suspects have been identified.

On Oct. 11, Daniel Booth, 40, was driving and looking for a job when he was shot on I-285, police said. Booth, who served in the U.S. Navy for eight years, crashed his pickup truck into a median, which pushed his body into the floorboard. He died before he could be rescued, according to a police report.

Witnesses reported seeing a unidentified person in a gray sedan drive by and shoot at Booth on the interstate, police said. Investigators asked the public to help identify the owner of the vehicle, which police said had a teal monogram sticker on the rear window and could be a Nissan.
