A woman was injured in a shooting Monday afternoon at a home in southwest Atlanta near an elementary school, police said.

Officers responded to the 2500 block of Old Hapeville Road around 12:15 p.m. after getting reports of a person shot, Atlanta police said in a news release. At the scene, police found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound who was unconscious but still breathing. She was taken to the hospital, but no further information was released about her condition.

The home where the woman was found is within a few hundred yards of Cleveland Avenue Elementary School, which was briefly placed on a “soft lockdown,” according to a representative for Atlanta Public Schools. During a soft lockdown, teachers and students remain in their classrooms but there are no outdoor activities.

The lockdown has since been lifted and the school day has continued as normal, APS said.

Police are actively investigating the shooting and have not released further information, including the woman’s identity or if any suspects have been identified.
