One man was killed and another was injured after a shootout between two temporary employees at a Forsyth County industrial park Wednesday morning, according to authorities.

The sheriff’s office responded at around 7:40 a.m. to reports of a shooting in progress in the 2500 block of Ivy Street near Cumming, where deputies found one of the employees dead and the other in critical condition, spokesperson Stacie Miller said from the scene.

She said the employees got into a fight outside Ernie Morris Enterprises, Inc., which is listed online as an office furniture store.

“Both (men) went to their vehicles, pulled out a gun and shot each other,” she said.

The man killed was identified as 23-year-old Hamilton Samuel Darwin of Cumming by the sheriff’s office. The other employee was identified as 20-year-old Ja’Mychael Quintrez Peavy of Hampton.

The sheriff’s office said an arrest warrant for felony murder was obtained for Peavy, who is still recovering from a gunshot wound at a hospital.

“Additional charges are pending,” Miller said.

She noted that authorities were interviewing about eight witnesses who were inside the facility when the incident occurred. None were injured.

Deputies responded to the shooting within four minutes. An investigation is ongoing.
