A former Life University wrestling coach was arrested Friday on allegations he sexually abused a youth athlete he worked with for five years, Pennsylvania state police said.
Ron Gorman, 51, of Marietta, is accused of sexually abusing the now 20-year-old when he was 10, according to a police report. The victim told police the abuse ended when he turned 15.
The alleged abuse took place in East Stroudsburg, Pa., where Gorman worked as a youth wrestling coach, according to the report.
Authorities said they launched an investigation in September after allegations surfaced that Gorman may have had inappropriate behavior with young men in Marietta.
Cobb County sheriff’s deputies arrested Gorman at his east Cobb home about 5:30 p.m. Friday, according to jail records. He is awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania.
He faces multiple charges, including rape of a child, deviate sexual intercourse with a child, unlawful contact with a minor, indecent assault and corruption of minors.
