A 68-year-old Savannah woman has been charged with murder after shooting and killing a woman inside the home she was renting, police said.
The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department announced Thursday that murder charges had been filed against Vivian Corely, who was originally facing charges including attempted murder and aggravated assault in connection with the June 4 shooting of 27-year-old Lorraine Manuel.
Manuel was in critical condition for nearly a week but died Wednesday, police said.
According to police, Corely called 911 on the afternoon in question “to report that she had shot someone in the rental house she owns” in southwest Chatham County.
Previous media reports said the shooting occurred after “a discussion between the two women.” It was not immediately clear if Manuel had been renting the home where she was shot.
Corely is being held without bond at the Chatham County jail.
