Three people — including a 14-year-old girl hit by a stray bullet — were injured in a pair of overnight shootings in the Old Fourth Ward.
Atlanta police do not believe the incidents, which occurred just a few hundred feet apart, are connected.
Officer Ralph Woolfolk said authorities responded to the 460 block of Boulevard around 2:40 a.m. Saturday to find a 14-year-old girl “with a graze wound to her right leg.”
“The victim informed officers she was sitting outside with her adult sister when they heard gunshots,” Woolfolk said. “They ran inside their apartment and that’s when she noticed that she had been shot.”
The girl was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries, Woolfolk said.
About an hour later, Atlanta police officers responded to Atlanta Medical Center to find on man shot in the arm and another shot in the leg. Both victims “refused to cooperate with officers and investigators,” Woolfolk said.
Police believe that shooting occurred on the 480 block of Boulevard, about 300 feet from where the 14-year-old girl was wounded.
“At this point there is no connection between the shooting incidents,” Woolfolk said.
No further information was available regarding either incident.
