A Bartow County woman was shot in an apparent drive-by while sitting in a car with a man and a child, police said.
The shooting happened shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday, when the trio stopped outside a building on Joe Frank Harris Parkway in Cartersville, Sheriff Clark Millsap said in a news release.
The man told deputies he was driving toward the intersection of Mac Johnson and Cassville roads when a black car came up behind them at a fast rate of speed. As the car passed on the driver’s side, the driver said he heard multiple gunshots and glass breaking. The shooter’s car continued toward Cassville Road.
The man realized the woman in the passenger seat had been hit. He rushed her to Cartersville Medical Center, where she was in serious condition.
