DeKalb County police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a vehicle that killed a pedestrian over the weekend on N. Stone Mountain Lithonia Road.

“Investigators have not been able to identify the car involved,” police spokesman Capt. Steven Fore told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Monday. “They encourage anyone with information or may have been in the area to come forward.”

Detectives determined that Velva Stewart, 56, was headed southbound in the roadway early Saturday when she was struck. Stewart was found after 1:55 a.m. near the southbound lane of N. Stone Mountain Lithonia Road north of Stonehaven Drive.
