A woman is behind bars after allegedly telling several Gwinnett County businesses she was a police officer to get out of paying for services, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Norcross salon owner Miriam Fuentes said the woman, identified as 26-year-old Evelin Vasquez, racked up a $750 bill and then walked out of her shop, promising she would return later to pay.

And a taxi driver told the news station the Doraville woman slipped out of a $95 fare, telling the driver her husband was the Gwinnett County police chief as she walked away from the cab.

Another jewelry saleswoman said Vasquez walked off with her $350 ring, claiming she was a detective and that she wanted to show the piece to her husband before buying it. The woman never returned, she said.

Vasquez was ultimately arrested on charges of impersonating an officer and theft of services, records show.

Witnesses said the woman, who wore a pair of handcuffs on her belt, threw them to the ground when officers caught up with her to take her to jail.

Vasquez remains in the Gwinnett jail on a $1,300 bond, records show. She is set to appear in court next week.
