Two men were taken to the hospital Tuesday morning after the truck they were riding in struck a tree, leaving them trapped inside the vehicle in Cherokee County.
The accident briefly shut down both lanes of Sugar Pike Road, said Tim Cavender, spokesman for Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services.
According to Cavender, two men, ages 22 and 27, were in a commercial truck about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday when the truck left Sugar Pike Road and struck a tree.
Both men were entrapped and had to be extricated from the vehicle. They were taken to North Fulton Hospital, in stable condition and lucky to be alive, Cavender said.
Both lanes of Sugar Pike Road were blocked until the clean-up operation was complete. The cause of the accident is being investigated by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
