A Massachusetts state trooper involved in a 50-mile car chase that ended with a violent takedown of the suspect in New Hampshire has been suspended with pay.

In a closed door hearing Friday, the 32-year-old trooper was ordered suspended with pay while the investigation into the arrest continues.

Friday's hearing was not part of the investigation; its purpose was only to determine the trooper's duty status.

An unnamed New Hampshire state trooper was also suspended after the pursuit Wednesday that started in Holden, Mass. and ended in Nashua, N.H.

Richard Simone Jr., of Worcester, Massachusetts, was arrested after he stepped out of his truck, kneeled and put his hands on the ground. A WFXT helicopter was over the scene and captured footage that shows officers punching him repeatedly.
