A Douglas County sheriff’s deputy pulled over a 2004 Lincoln Continental last month on I-20. And the roadside investigation uncovered about 70 pounds of liquid methamphetamine, authorities said.

Deputy Robert Sprayberry stopped the car for a traffic violation on April 19 about 11 a.m., according to a media release issued Saturday by the sheriff’s office. He found three containers filled with a liquid that tested positive for methamphetamine, as well as other drug-related objects.

Arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine were Alejandro Cervantes, Hoguer Honorato Vergara and Alicin Brandy Soliz. All three are being held at the Douglas County jail.

Douglas County sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Glenn Daniel, reached at home Saturday, couldn’t give the suspects’ ages or hometowns. He said the delay in releasing the information was because of an ongoing investigation.

Meth is liquefied for easier transport, according to the federal Drug Enforcement Administration. One pound of liquid meth has a street value of about $300,000 once it’s re-crystallized, according to information cited by Austin, Texas, police.
