Clayton County police are searching for a 19-year-old accused of shooting a man inside an Ellenwood home on Tuesday.

Authorities said Jaleel Scott and two unknown accomplices went to a home in the 5000 block of Mount Zion Road searching for a man who was not there.

A verbal altercation ensued between the trio and several people who were home. Shots were fired, and Scott and the two others took off, Clayton police said.

Officers arrived to find one man in the home had been shot in the torso. He was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening, Clayton police said Wednesday in a news release.

Authorities traced Scott to a home near Rex Road and Sherwood Place and executed a search warrant with the help of Clayton deputies and members of the SWAT team, but the teen was not there, police said.

Scott is wanted on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Police say the shooting investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Scott or the others involved is asked to call 911.
