A 14-year-old boy was critically injured after he was shot while walking along a busy southwest Atlanta street.

A man walked up to the boy and shot him in the stomach about 4 p.m. Saturday on Metropolitan Parkway and Avery Road, police told Channel 2 Action News.

A 14-year-old boy is in critical condition after he was shot while walking down the street.

After the incident, the shooter trailed the teen with a gun as the boy looked for help, then tucked his gun and ran, realizing he had been spotted by witnesses, police said.

No arrests have been made.

The boy was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he remained in critical condition Monday night, Channel 2 reported.
