Atlanta police have arrested a suspect in the May shooting death of the brother of a prominent Atlanta minister.
Jerrick Jackson, 47, was shot to death on the morning of May 7 as he tried to fight off a group of armed robbers trying to force their way into his northwest Atlanta home, said Atlanta police.
Jackson and his fiancee had just returned home from a fast-food restaurant around 1 a.m. when they were approached by several males with guns drawn, police said.
On Thursday, Atlanta police arrested Alejandro “Big Poppa” Pitts, 18, of Atlanta, on charges of murder and armed robbery.
More arrests are forthcoming as the investigation continues, Atlanta police spokesman Carlos Campos said in a statement.
Jerrick Jackson is the younger brother of Gospel Tabernacle Cathedral’s Bishop Wiley Jackson.
