Authorities have arrested one of two suspects in a Rockdale County home invasion that sent a 57-year-old woman to a hospital.

The woman was shot twice inside her Lost Valley Drive home Dec. 17 after two men kicked in the front door, according to Rockdale County Sheriff Eric Levett. She ran upstairs to her bedroom before the intruders kicked in that door, and gunfire was exchanged, he said.

Deputies found her about 6 p.m., and she was flown to a hospital for surgery. An update on her condition was not provided.

On Monday, officials confirmed an arrest has been made in the case. Victor Jones, 36, was arrested Christmas Day on charges of aggravated assault, aggravated battery, first-degree home invasion and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

No information was released about the second suspect. Following the shooting, Levett confirmed a gunshot victim was found walking in the Browns Ferry Mill Road area. It is unknown if that victim was connected to the home invasion.

Investigators initially believed the Lost Valley Drive home was targeted.

“We don’t know if the victim was followed,” Levett told Channel 2 Action News at the time. “We don’t know why this house was targeted. Those are pieces that we are trying to put together.”
