The woman accused of shooting and killing a Rex mother of four Tuesday following an argument in East Atlanta skipped an initial court hearing.

Terri C. Williams waived her first appearance before a DeKalb County Magistrate Court judge scheduled for Friday, court officials said.

Williams, 35, is charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony for allegedly shooting Charlese Brooks.

According to police, the shooting happened outside the Brick House Restaurant in the 800 block of Bouldercrest Road.

Brooks died at the scene, police said.

“Information that we gathered during their preliminary stage of our investigation indicates that there was a verbal argument that escalated into the shooting,” Atlanta Police homicide unit commander Capt. Paul Guerrucci said on Wednesday.

Relatives told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Brooks was trying to break up an argument between her friend and Williams, and Williams retrieved a gun and began shooting.

Williams surrendered at her attorney’s Atlanta office Wednesday morning and was arrested there by police. She remains in the DeKalb County jail without bond.

Police continue to investigate.
