A Mableton teenager is behind bars after allegedly robbing students as they left Pebblebrook High School last week.

Billy Gene Viverette, 17, is accused of snatching a student’s backpack Thursday evening after punching and kicking them, according to his arrest warrant.

The alleged attack occurred sometime between 8:30 and 9 p.m.

Another man, identified in warrants as Marcelus Hines, is accused of being Viverette’s accomplice and assaulting another teen, stealing a backpack containing a gold necklace, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Police are still searching for Hines.

The bag reportedly stolen by Viverette contained an iPhone and a laptop, according to a warrant taken out by Cobb school police.

Authorities believe Viverette is the same person who tried to break into cars in the parking lot of a Mableton Kroger in January, the news station reported.

Thieves in that case got into an unlocked car and made off with a knife, a screwdriver, a rubber mallet and a steel railroad spike, according to police reports.

Viverette was arrested Saturday morning on charges of robbery, theft by taking, criminal trespass and simple battery. He remains in the Cobb County jail on a $27,720 bond, records show.
