A driver was shot Thursday morning at a busy Cobb County intersection in what police are now calling a case of road rage.

About 9:49 a.m., the driver of a white Dodge Ram was shot in the hip on Cumberland Boulevard near Paces Ferry Road, Cobb police Sgt. Dana Pierce told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The driver had some sort of traffic-related issue with other motorists on Paces Ferry, Pierce said.

Witnesses told Channel 2 Action News the SUV was driving erratically, cutting off other drivers and making inappropriate gestures.

As the Dodge was turning onto Cumberland, the driver of an SUV shot the driver of the Dodge and sped east toward Cobb Parkway.

A witness called police and tried to give the driver of the Dodge CPR.

Cobb police are searching for the driver of the SUV, described as a dark Saturn crossover-style vehicle with no license plate. Cobb police spokeswoman Alicia Chilton said the driver was a man wearing a fisherman-style hat.

The driver of the Dodge was taken to a local hospital with injuries not considered serious.
