A Conyers woman is accused of using her small child to help her rob a neighbor’s home by sending him in through a doggie door.

Rockdale County sheriff’s deputies arrested Cheryl Keele, 25, on a burglary charge Wednesday after the victim turned over a videotape. It showed Keele’s son climbing through the doggie door to unlock the back door for Keele, a Rockdale County Sheriff’s Dept. report says.

The boy is around 5 or 6, Rockdale Investigator Michael Camp said.

The victim told deputies she installed the camera a week ago when she found her handgun missing. Several other items, including prescription medicine, had disappeared over the past few months. She told deputies that even though she locks her doors before leaving for work, she often returned home to find the back door unlocked.

She suspected the missing items had been stolen.

She found the back door open again last Saturday and tried to check the security footage, but the camera was missing as well, she said. She was able to access what it recorded from a computer.

When deputies arrested Keele, the report says, they found the security camera in her home.

Keele is being held in the Rockdale County jail.
