The woman who died in a dramatic wreck on I-85 Monday afternoon was not wearing a seat belt, police say.
Rabia Adnan, 32, of Duluth was killed when the Nissan Pathfinder, driven by her husband, was forced out of its lane by a tractor-trailer and into the side of a box truck, said Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith.
“The Pathfinder struck the steep hill between the interstate and the Steve Reynolds Boulevard ramp to I-85 South,” Smith said. “The vehicle flipped over multiple times, ejecting (Adnan) who was riding in the front passenger seat.”
Adnan’s two children were taken to Children’s at Egleston hospital, treated and released, Smith said.
The driver of the box car stopped and cooperated with the police.
The tractor-trailer driver did not. Police found him later in Cobb County, Smith said.
The driver of the tractor-trailer has been identified, and no charges have been filed at this time, the spokesman said.
