Authorities in south Fulton County are trying to capture a man they believe has robbed several area businesses at gunpoint in the past month, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The man, who has been recorded on surveillance video, has robbed five Metro PCS stores and four Subway stores in Fairburn, Channel 2 reported.

“He is keeping it mostly to the south side of Atlanta, which makes us believe he is local,” Fairburn police Lt. Anthony Bazydlo told the station.

In several of the robberies, the man is wearing a brown hat, turned with the bill to the back, and a striped shirt, according to the station. Police say he has told some clerks that “times are tough.”

He always seeks cash in the robberies, never taking cellphones that can be worth hundreds of dollars, according to the report.

He has struck on Monday through Friday, between 3:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., Channel 2 reported. However, police are concerned that the frequency of the crimes is escalating. They say the robberies once were every couple of days, but on Sept. 6 the man held up two stores in a matter of hours.

Police are concerned what might happen if they do not apprehend the man.

“I think if someone is willing to point a gun at you, they’re willing to fire it,” Bazydlo said. “And the fact that so far no one has been hurt, we’ve been very lucky.”
