A teenager is accused of carjacking a woman at a Buckhead gas station on Northside Parkway Tuesday morning, police say.
While the woman pumped gas at the Chevron at 3465 Northside Parkway, a teenage man jumped into her company-owned car and locked the doors, according to the police report.
The woman started yelling at him to get out of her car and she told police she pounded on her car’s windows. Her phone, purse and iPad were inside the black Dodge Charger.
The teen tore off, taking her company car and knocking her to the ground. She scraped her knees and elbows when she fell, according to the report.
Using the suspect description provided by Atlanta police officers, Fulton County police found the Charger near Shoreland Drive and Pamela Lane. Officers lost sight of the car, but flooded the area with helicopter and K-9 units.
Officers found two suspects in a residence and detained them until Atlanta police officers showed up and the woman who was carjacked identified the teen who she thought took her car at the Chevron. He was arrested and charged, but police have not released his name because he is a juvenile.
Officer Lukasz Sajdak, a spokesman for Atlanta police, said the juvenile suspect was born in the year 2000, making him no older than 16.
“From the information available to us, he is a repeat offender,” Sajdak said.
Atlanta police Officer Warren Pickard told Channel 2 Action News they’ve seen this teen about 16 times.
“We just can’t continuously have juveniles repeat crime after crime after crime and just walk the streets,” Pickard said. “We can not let that happen.”
