Brookhaven police have identified the man who they say shot at an officer who was investigating a robbery.

The shot by Brandon Joseph Barabino, 34, narrowly missed the officer’s head after entering through the rear driver’s side window of the cruiser, police spokesman Carlos Nino said. The officer and Barabino were conversing late Tuesday while in their cars after a robbery at a nearby business.

Barabino drove away and later crashed his car in unincorporated DeKalb County, Nino said. Barabino remains at large.

Police say Barabino is 6-foot-3 and weighs about 175 pounds.
