A 53-year-old Cumming man has been charged in a fatal crash at the intersection of McFarland Parkway and Ga. 400, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday.
Vincent Sams was arrested Tuesday and charged with second-degree vehicular homicide, failure to obey traffic control device and failure to use due regard while operating a motor vehicle, according to Detective Epi Rodriguez.
On Nov. 17, Franklin Smith, 49, attempted to turn left from McFarland Parkway onto the Ga. 400 northbound ramp when his Toyota Corolla was hit by a Ford Mustang, driven by Sams, the sheriff’s office previously said. Investigators believe Smith had a green arrow to turn when he was hit.
Smith was unresponsive at the scene of the crash and later died, police said.
Sams was being booked Tuesday afternoon into the Forsyth County jail. His mug shot and bond information were not immediately available.
