Three men are in police custody after a chase that resulted in multiple accidents on Interstate 20 on Tuesday.
Corey James told police his black 2010 Cadillac Escalade was stolen after he left it running at a gas pump outside of a Shell station in Conyers and went inside the store.
Rockdale County Police spokesman Michael Meyers said a video from the gas station showed one of the suspects leaving in the Escalade.
“The suspect had gotten out of a silver Honda Accord, which followed the Escalade out,” Myers said.
James called 911 and told the dispatcher the car was traveling on I-20. Deputies from the Rockdale sheriff’s department pursued the vehicles and managed to stop the Accord after three hit-and-run accidents. At least seven cars were involved in the crashes.
One person had minor injuries and was transported to DeKalb Medical, DeKalb Police Maj. Stephen Fore said.
Three men in the Accord were taken into custody. Monterio Wesley, 17, and two juveniles were arrested. Both juveniles had guns, police said.
According to Meyers, the driver of the Escalade ran after wrecking a quarter mile down the highway and has not been caught.
Police said the Accord and one of the weapons were stolen.
