Pedestrian without ID killed in Gwinnett, driver arrested

Gwinnett County police are trying to identify a man struck and killed by a car Saturday at Lawrenceville Highway south of Sugarloaf Parkway.

The accident happened about 3:46 a.m., Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Frederick Saldana said in a news release.

Officers found the man without any identification, partially clothed and lying in the middle of the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Saldana said the man was crossing the street outside of the cross walk when he was struck by a vehicle.

That vehicle left the scene, but was recovered a short distance later and the driver of the vehicle was arrested.

The Gwinnett County Police Department are asking for help from the public to identify the victim, described by police as a 20 to 25-year-old black man, with short black hair, brown eyes and a mustache and goatee. He has multiple tattoos.

At the time of the incident, the man was wearing a maroon shirt, black jeans and brown boots.
