A Cobb County kindergarten teacher was shot and killed Thursday inside her parents’ home, and her mother-in-law was arrested and charged with murder, police said.
Investigators were called Thursday morning to a west Cobb home on Wyndham Woods Drive, located off Antioch Road, Sgt. Dana Pierce said. Jenna Wall, 35, had been shot in the home and died before police and paramedics arrived, Pierce said.
Wall’s mother-in-law, Elizabeth Brown Wall, was also inside the home, police said. The 63-year-old south Georgia woman was arrested at the home without incident, Pierce said. No information was released about a possible motive.
Jenna Wall’s two sons, ages 7 and 8, were at the home at the time of the shooting, Pierce said. The boys were questioned by detectives, who remained at the home for several hours Thursday.
Elizabeth Wall was charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony and third-degree cruelty to children, according to police. She was being held without bond Thursday night at the Cobb jail.
Jenna Wall, who grew up in Cobb, taught kindergarten at Kemp Elementary School in Powder Springs, according to her blog on the school's website. After graduating from Harrison High School and the University of Georgia with a degree in sociology and psychology, Wall worked in management and sales before returning to Mercer University for a teaching degree, she wrote.
“My passion has always been working with children and I took the leap of faith and started back to school to earn my teaching certificate,” Wall wrote.
She taught at Vaughn and Frey elementary schools before moving to Kemp Elementary.
