A man was shot three times early Tuesday as he walked to a store in northeast Atlanta, police said.

According to Channel 2 Action News, two people approached the man just before 2 a.m. along Briarcliff Place near Rosedale Road and attempted to rob him.

Gunfire was exchanged and the man was shot twice in the legs and once in the arm, police said.

Atlanta police Capt. Celeste Murphy told Channel 2 the shooting happened in a low-crime area.

“In this neighborhood,” she said, “we really don’t get a lot of that.”

The victim was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.
