A man was shot early Tuesday when someone broke into his South Fulton home, police said.

Officers were called to the home in the 4800 block of Brookwood Place about 3:20 a.m.

They learned an intruder entered the residence and shot a 38-year-old man in his left thigh, South Fulton police spokeswoman Officer Partrena Baker said.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to be OK, Channel 2 Action News reported.

No other details have been released.
