Man shot in chest while on front porch of Palmetto home, police chief says

A man who had been sitting on the front porch of his home was shot in the chest Monday night, authorities said.

The 27-year-old man was shot about 7:25 p.m. in the 800 block of Carlton Pointe Drive, Palmetto police Chief Bryan Hergesell told Channel 2 Action News. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he remains in an unknown condition.

Investigators are going around the neighborhood in hopes of finding the shooter, Hergesell said. He said police have “good leads” on the suspect.
