A man was sentenced to life for raping a 15-year-old girl at a metro Atlanta park, officials said.
Yvari Brown, 20, must serve the first 35 years of his sentence in prison, Henry County Senior Superior Court Judge Albert Collier ruled Thursday.

The sentence came nearly one month after a Henry County jury convicted Brown of rape and aggravated sodomy in the Oct. 30, 2016, attack.
According to prosecutors, the victim testified she was near the playground at Richard Craig Park in McDonough when Brown and several of his friends arrived in a car.
Brown took the girl to a tube slide, raped her and covered her mouth with his hand.
“We are fully committed to protecting our children by ensuring that dangerous sex offenders are taken off the streets,” Henry County District Attorney Darius Pattillo said. “We hope that this sentence will bring some relief to the victim and her family.”
