A 25-year-old man was convicted Friday in the 2015 shooting death of a DeKalb County gas station clerk and preacher.
A jury found Rickey Dashun Westbrook guilty of murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office spokesman Marcus Garner said Monday.
Westbrook entered the Exxon gas station at 4101 Memorial Drive and fatally shot 54-year-old Harry Wells as he manned the cash register about 4:30 a.m. July 13, Garner said.
Police arrested Westbrook days later.
The victim’s family members told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Wells was a part-time minister.
The murder trial began last week, and a jury deliberated for less than two hours before returning a verdict.
Westbrook faces life in prison without parole, Garner said.
A sentencing date has not been set.
