A man accused of shooting his child's mother in Clayton County and running from police during a traffic stop has surrendered, the sheriff's office said.

The arrest ended a manhunt for Pree Nicholas Charles after the sheriff's office earlier spotted Charles on Frontage Road, according to an alert from the agency.

Authorities urged people to avoid the area because Charles was considered armed and dangerous.

He said he wouldn’t be taken in without a fight, but a few hours later, his stepfather drove him to the sheriff’s office to turn himself in peacefully, police said.

Charles, who faces charges related to the shooting, also faces drug charges after officers said they found drugs in his vehicle.
