A Macon man was arrested after trying to meet someone he believed was a 13-year-old girl for sex, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

Michael Hulsey, 46, was taken into custody at his home Saturday after an undercover investigation, sheriff’s office spokesman Capt. Jay Baker said.

Investigators had been communicating with Hulsey since mid-September, Baker said. During that time, Hulsey allegedly sent several images of himself and made arrangements for the girl to go to his home near Macon.

“Initially Hulsey made arrangements to travel to Cherokee County to meet the 13-year-old,” Baker said, “but then later agreed to pick her up at a bus station if she would travel to Macon.”

Hulsey was arrested and charged with 13 counts of obscene internet contact with a child, two counts of child molestation, electronically furnishing obscene material to minors, child exploitation and three counts of use of computer service to commit an illegal act.

He was booked into the Cherokee Adult Detention Center, where he remains with no bond.
